Looking at buying this turbo kit
I've been searching around this morning and came across this 'kit' that's for sale. The guy wants $1900 or a best offer. I'm wondering if this would even work with my 98 GS or not since it seems these kits are for Nissans, Hondas, and Acuras even though it's listed as a 420a turbo kit. Also need to see if there are any parts I'd have to pick up to go along with it.
Brand new t3 turbonetics turbo. Cast Iron Manifold. Front Mount Intercooler and Piping. GReddy Blow-Off Valve. Downpipe (Requires mod for new turbo). Vortech SFMU (standalone fuel management). Accel 335/CCM Fuel Injectors. Flexpipe for downpipe. New wastegate actuator. Underhood Autometere Fuel Pressure gauge. Tenzo R Boost Gauge Autometer EGT Gauge and Probe Autometer A/F Gauge Tripple Pillar Gauge Pod. Air Filter. All new gaksets. All hoses, electrical wrap, fittings, T's included. |

Re: Looking at buying this turbo kit
I also just ran across a Star Stage 1 kit with extras. It looks like I'd have about everything I need (minus an exhaust system), except maybe a fuel pump, or do I not need one? I'd just appreciate it if someone could look over everything quick and let me know what they think. I'm also listing the parts from a star stage 1 kit.

Re: Looking at buying this turbo kit
Ask them if it will work or not. Make sure you know what the hell turbo it is. T3 could mean 230hp or 400hp. T04/T3 could mean 300hp to 600hp.

Re: Looking at buying this turbo kit
The guy with the first kit listed replied saying:
Well the turbo itself is capable of making over 30lbs of boost which I'd assume would put a properly built motor over 500HP. On our cars with stock internals in the motor we can only run up to 8psi safely, which would make between 230-250hp to the flywheel, about 200-220 to the wheels. The turbo is brand new(which is the component most succeptable to wear, and most likely to go out on you). I bought the intercooler and manifold as a kit awhile back, and they are kind of beat up, but still look and work fine. I bought the sfmu, turbo timer, gauges, gauge pod, injectors and everything else maybe 6 months ago, and barely got any use out of them. If you are still interested, make me an offer and I will take a picture of everything together so you can visualize it. |

Re: Looking at buying this turbo kit
I can't make the decision for you, but they are both good. 30psi doesn't mean shit in terms of horsepower or speed. You can run 25psi on a stock T25, or 25psi on a 20g.. which flows more air?
Anyway, I like the second one for near the same price. |
