Car Modeling Magazines?

anyone knows or came across any good car modeling magazines? I've browsed through the bookstores in my country but what they have are magazines on military and aviation modeling, no cars It will be good if someone here recommend me something

Well, if you're just a casual builder, Scale Auto by Kalmbach publishing is pretty good. They cover a lot of ground and are very helpful if you're getting in on the ground floor. If you're more of an enthusiast, then Model Cars magazine is the better choice as they get more in-depth with accuracy, aftermarket, and modified builds.

Also, as of recent Scale Auto has been garnering a reputation for being a total kiss-ass in their reviews. Luckily, car modeling's #1 reviewer - Larry Greenberg - is now at Model Cars tearing into kits of a much wider diversity than his Scale Auto Enthusiast (the mag's old title) column "Strictly Stock" would've allowed.

Re: Car Modeling Magazines?

Singapore? You can probably find Tamiya International Modeling Magazine at a store that carries other Tamiya products.

Most of the bookstore will carried Tamiya modeling magazine. As for Japanese modeling magazine, try Kinokuniya book store (Takashimaya and Diamaru outlet the best.) Japanese title as... Car Modeling Magazine, Model Graphix and Petit Garage.
most of the modeling magazine in Singapore are fast moving magazine. So if possible, reserved your monthly order through kino book store so you will not missed any issue.

Tamiya modeling mag are mainly focus on military rather than cars and bikes. As for the Japanese mag, kino had it all.
Most of them is on the magazine section. This month can forget it. Try to go hlj.com and print the reference picts and ask the customer service center in kino bookstore, they will help you on it. Just remember this, English section is only for english magazine and japanese mag is in japanese section(this only apply to kino Diamaru), in Taka, just head to customer service and show them what mag you want to order or ask them when is the next issue be arrived, they will tell you. hope that help you. Btw, I lived in SG too.

Scale Auto and Model Cars are the biggest, but they're definitely skewed towards a US mindset. They're both good magazines, depending on your point of view. They both have good points and not-so-good points. I tend to go through either one very quickly...neither one grabs my attention from cover-to-cover, mainly because they're concentrating on a lot of subjects I'm not interested in...to try to appeal to a broader audience. As for reviews, I'm still biased against anything in the printed magazines...word of mouth means a lot more to me than printed material. Because of my particular eclectic tastes, no magazine is going to make me 100% satisfied. So I live w/what is printed, and use online forums to give me much more comprehensive looks at the models I really dig.

If you go through this particular forum, you realize that there is more comprehensive build coverage and far more built models showcased here than any magazine could hope for. Lots of questions asked and answered. In many respects, this is the reason magazines are fighting for survival.

English mag, go for Scale Auto. I myself love it because there's alot of show coverage and tips to on modeling scale. So if you lived in Asia, you may want to pick up some American and European skill as well. If you got chance, order your Scale Auto Annual now. It's got tons of good models show in contest or meet-up in State.

Japanese mag, Petit Garage. Mainly on old cars and retro mobile.
Car modeling mag, released every 6 months. Next issue is coming in this 2 months time. It only feature cars that mainly on the cover or related model, also a section of scratchbuilding or resin casting on race car like WRC.
