hokay, so.. went over to a going away party tonight, all's well... drive there, party, drive my friend home... just as i'm about to pull out of the driveway i smell something that is sort of like syrup.. i'm like hmm, it's a little late for pankakes isn't it? oh well, start pulling away until i see the plume of white smoke billowing out from under the hood... motherf'n sob.. pull back into the driveway and pop the hood... directly go for the recent "mod" i did (bypassing coolant that runs through throttle body) and tighten up the bolts on the hoses... start it up.. same thing happens, so i go and look again, and it turns out that where the old crappy wire clamp on the hose was had split open a bit... so i do what any tuner would do.. knock on the door and ask for some duct tape! anyway, do a hack-tape job and start out on the journey home, praying that i make it home.
with my eyes peeled on the temp guage i'm flying along the highway at 100 (km) putting it in 5th and flooring it for a few seconds, then sticking it in neutral and coasting for as long as possible, then repeating.... made it home ok but i'm going to need to find out where the hose goes to and replace it... stupid 18 yr old hoses... if you're too lazy to read all that... coolant hose cracked, need to replace it, nothing too serious.

I was going to say that you need to stay away from taco bell but then I read your post and remembered that the mexi food doesn't produce a sweet smell. Anyway, worse comes to worse just go buy a yard or whatever of some different size hoses that you need a start replacing the ones that are cracked or brittle. The molded hoses like from the radiator to the block are more expensive but if you wanted you could get some generic metal tubing the same size and use some slightly oversized rubber hose and some clamps to hook it all up. Thats pretty much all those expensive metal coolant pipe kits are.

Re: what's that sweet burning smell?
yeah i'm pretty sure it's just a rubber 3/8ths hose... only thing that i'm a little unsettled about is that it leaked onto a sensor in there... hopefully won't mess it up but i'm not too sure what one it is... i guess i'll cross that bridge when i get to it...
