Th125c won't shift into 2-3

First... Hello, and thanks for any help you might have...

This happened all of a sudden and without warning.
My wifes' 92 se w/ v-6 and Th125c has no 2nd or 3rd speeds. When I take off, low works great but delays to 2nd and when it does leave low it just slips (like neutral). I've cleaned the govenor and checked the oil level but didn't help. I'm thinking the band must have let go because it is required for both those speeds. I've also seen threads on valve problems in the valve body. I was wondering if there are any other possibilities to check before pulling the tranny, and how hard is it to get that cover off to get at the valve body?

Thanks again....
I need to fix her car or she'll wanna drive mine (93 GT W/Quad4 5speed)

Jack up the car and remove the drivers side wheel. The valve body is located under the cover just behind the wheel. Remove the valve body and carefully disassemble it being careful to do only one part at a time. Clean each part and reassemble. Don't change any adjustments and once complete replace it in the car. If the valve body is sticking this should correct the problem if not you will need to replace the transmission. Also check the vacuum modulator to make sure it is has not gone bad. This would account for the delay in shifting.

Cool

Cleaned out the valve body and the governor and put in new oil and a filter. Seems to be working now but I did find a lot of clutch material in the pan so it's time to start saving up for a rebuilt. I'll change the oil again in a couple of weeks when the oil in the torque convertor mixes with the new oil.

Thanks again GTP_Dad ...
