Question '98 Civic Coupe DX Hood Latch Cable...

Hi, just joined this forum and I need some help. I tried to open the hood today and the latch inside the car has no tension. I think the cable broke? The cable is only $13...how hard is it to install? And, how do I open the hood until the cable is fixed?

you can get to the hood latch cable through the drivers side wheelwell...a chiltons/helms manual will show you if you cant figure it out after you get the splash gurads off....im 99% sure its the drivers side. i think it also runs right by the windshield washer fluid bottle....anyways that sucks...good luck.
