Re: Skyline for under 20k

In the United States?

NO.

You can not buy a street legal, licensed Nissan Skyline in the United States for under $20,000.

Here's a breakdown of the costs of getting an better than average BNR-32 GT-R to the states legally.

Cost of Vehicle: $9,000.00 to $15,000
Shipping to US: $2500.00
Legalization by RI:~$15,000

Assuming no other costs are incurred, total price of vehicle; $26,000.00 to $32,000.00

This is also not taking into account the desirability factor (market value) which realistically takes the price to near $50,000 if the dealer has a brain.

Re: Re: Skyline for under 20k

For an r32 its 10k for legality and I get shipping for 900+ no where near 2500 and the car you could get for 750o-10k depending on who u look at. Also if you have a higher strength exchange rate that will save you a good 100+ dollars or so as well.

You can get a Skyline for about $20K, but not a GTR.

For example, right now Rush Corp has a 1993 Skyline GTS25t for $3,440 as of todays currency exchange.
http://www.rushcorp.com/cars/cardeta...ocknum=1610007

Look at their shipping page, and put in the info, and it calculates it as $4,625 for the car, shipping and shipping insurance.
http://www.rushcorp.com/cars/fc.shtml (Don't forget to put the FOB price in yen from car's page)

And look at legalization/conversion costs through Motorex, the only one that can legally do it right now, and it's $16,000
http://www.motorex.net/pricing.html

So, you can get an RB25DET powered R33 Skyline for a total of $20,625.

Well, if you get a car through Batfa, that's what he charges to ship it to the US:
http://www.batfa.com/sc789456123100.htm

Shipping a car is not all that expensive if you are only shipping from port to port. For example, I shipped my Isuzu Amigo from Baltimore to Southampton England last year, and it was $896. I originally was going to ship it from Wisconsin (where it was being stored) to Southampton, but that total was $1800! Anytime you deal with ground shipping of a vehicle, the price rises dramatically! After seeing the difference, I wisely drove it from Wisconsin to Baltimore (where I was flying out of anyways) and saved alot of money.

Also, I would like to know where you got the $2500 figure! When I was doing this move, I and a friend both moved from Japan to England. I had my Skyline shipped, he shipped his Altezza and his second vehicle, a Hilux Surf. All of these had a shipping fee just under $2000 for each vehicle. That's from Japan to England! So if you're being told $2500 from Japan to the US, someone's ripping you off.

The price we had from Japan to England is MUCH higher then what Batfa charges, but that's because it was shipping the vehicle alone, not a bulk contract like Batfa deals with. There are a LOT of Japanese vehicles imported to the UK.

Re: Skyline for under 20k

you could probably get a GT-R for 26-28 grand MINIMUM. but that depends on where you go and what condition the car will be in. theres r32's for sale on bafta for about 10 grand, plus legalization plus shipping. a GT-R for around or under 30 grand.
