Excellent Luck w/ my Aurora Changing coolant questions
I just read where one guy is bagging his Aurora. Too bad for him. I am having really good luck on my '98.
Here's a recap- bought it from my Brother-in-law, 180,000 miles for a couple o thow. It had supposedly blown a head gasket. It had oil in the coolant overflow. I bought a doner motor but as of yet have not had to put it in. I just now got around to changing the coolant. It came out very clean. Now I wish I had left it alone. My question is- how much coolant should I put back? I put one gal of coolant and one gallon of distilled water. I also put in about 6 oz of "Mac's 1300" coolant conditioner. Is there a proceedure to changing the coolant? I took the plastic overflow off to clean it, took the two large hoses off, ran garden hose water in the block and in and out of the radiator. I then used compressed air to get the water out of both. any thougts? |

Re: Excellent Luck w/ my Aurora Changing coolant questions
The cooling system capacity should be listed in your owner's manual.
You're supposed to add three GM seal tabs to help prevent leaks since the whole system is aluminum for the most part. I've heard they are basically ground up walnut shells. I think they come with directions as to where and how to add them. Other than that, just add everything to the reservoir, it'll run downhill from there. Check after you've driven a bit for correct level and maybe get a hygrometer and see if you're at the right mix (about $5 at Wal Mart). |

I think you have to have a special hygrometer for measuring Dex Cool.
