b16 or b18?

I just bought a 91 HF completly stock. My plan is for it to be a reliable fast (not the fastest) good looking (not show quality) daily driver that is able to pass emissions. The first mod will be the engine. No reason to dress her up if she won't put out. But to finally get to my question, Can anyone tell me how B16 and B18 would compare for my swap needs.
Easiest to swap?
Cheapest?
Reliable?
HP?
Torque?
Are they both V-Tec?
Repairs?
Myself or Mechanic?
Best link for step by step swap instructions? I've found a couple already.
I also would like to only do this swap once any sugestions from expierenced swappers will be greatly apreciated.
Thanx KM

Re: b16 or b18?

heh you said V-Tec, you might want to find that rock to crawl under now.

Cheepest- B18 usually
Reliable- all honda motors are reliable
Hp/torque depends on the the motor generation
vtec - both can be

as for repairs.. we dont know what your capable of so thats a hard question to answer.

Re: b16 or b18?

what do you mean by b18? b18a, b18b, b18c, b18c5? All are different motors with different hp and tq, and half are vtec motors and half aren't.

Re: b16 or b18?

Hey quit makn fun of the new kid (aka me). I said I just bought the thing "she's my ferst Hawnda"
B18 really? I thought "they said" the B16 was an easier swap. I checked out the "what engine?" thread they mention a suspension mod with a b18 swap. What are they talkin about?

Re: b16 or b18?

if you want a nice setup with the torque of a b18 and vtec without the b18 vtec price you can put a vtec b16 head on a b18. This is refered to as an LS/VTEC
