Help me, need answers!

I just bought a 2001 3G GS. I've already put in a cold air intake and I need more. Here's where I need help. I have complete access to a mill and all the other stuff to machining work, I just don't know what to machine. I heard someone talking about boring out the throttle body and still like that. Also, in another forum, some guys were talking about adjusting your maf screw, can someone clarify on how to do this. Thanks

That's next week, I'm going magnaflow, but only the muffler. Everyone seems to think the cats and piping are just as good as aftermarket. After that I think I'm going direct port nitrous. But I'm wondering what I can do now, especially considering I have access to a digital mill. Also I'm wondering about that maf sensor. Today I took off the heat shield off of my stock exhaust manifold, and cleaned off the headers, then reset the ecu. Seemed like it gave it a serious power gain. After that I actually took a 5.0 in the first 3 gears.

Re: Help me, need answers!

The stock exhaust on the 3G is really quite good, which is why you only gain 2-4whp by changing it out. the biggest restriction with the exhaust would be the muffler. The biggest reason for getting an exhaust system would be to get quality sound.

For the MAF, you are only able to bore it out by about 3mm which really will not add alot to the power of your car as you are still running off atmoshperic pressure.

For the MAF screw, that adjusts your air/fuel ratios very rudimetarily. I would suggest that you get the GReddy E-manage or another type A/F controller such as the HKS SAFR II. If you want to adjust the screw, it is under the MAF and you will have to remove all the silicone. I would recommend that you get on a dyno and adjust it.

it is in fact similar to a full exhaust if by saying full exhaust u mean cat-back so sit back and read a little before posting, every muffler shop i went to suggested i not take out the stock system just because it was just about as good as it gets when it comes to exhausts, the muffler however, i could do w/o

after you get done w/ that i'd try getting some resonators taken out, i heard a diameter of 1 and 3 quarters inches...the smallest part of the exhaust route thus far
unless you have fed-spec, then muffler is all you need

Re: Help me, need answers!

on a honda yes, but on the eclipse the stock design IS AS GOOD AS most aftermarket cat-backs, on the eclipse it isn't a fart can because these cars won't fart like a honda, so instead its just a muffler

i don't know think anyone on this site has a dam clue wtf they are talking about, where the hell do you get your information from. It is physically IMPOSSIBLE for just a muffler to be as good as a cat back. The bigger the piping the better breathing, so how do you come up with your moronic theories??????

Re: Help me, need answers!

well then....that shows that you don't know shit about your car. if you did, you would know that the stock exhaust piping is just about as good as aftermarket piping. the only difference between the two is the size. the stock size is 2.25''. the Greddy Evo II is 2.5''. thats just a quarter of an inch. it doesnt make that much of a difference. the only part of the whole exhaust system that makes a difference is the muffler. thats where our exhaust is so restrictive. change the muffler and your get ALMOST the same as an aftermarket exhaust system. now where do you get your moronic theories from??????????

If your piping is too big on an n/a car you'll lose power because you'll lose the vaccum effect that your car uses....

omg I can not believe you are all fighting over this! Obviously those of you who know what you're talking about, know what you're talking about! Those of you who don't (i wont say names *cough*) stop trying to be a big boy. Why don't you just try getting a muffler and if you aren't as impressed, get the rest of the freaking exhaust. There, fighting done!
