Question on fuel booster
I was at Auto Zone today getting carpet cleaner and windshield washer fluid when I noticed something called Octane Booster. Appearntly, you put it in your tank before you gas up, and it improves performance for that tank of gas. Because of my severe college student budget, and the fact Im saving for an ///M3 or an S4, I dont really have any performance parts on my car, and go with the simple little things (getting a K&N air filter, keep the motor tuned well, change oil a bit more than regularaly), and was wondering if this would do anything. Anyone here have any expierience with octane booster (I noticed both a Holley NOS and Outlaw brand), and is it worth four bucks?

To get the most HP out of your car. Burn the lowest octane possible. The higher the octane, the more heat it takes to get it to fire. if you have a 9 to 1 engine and you are running 93plus octane, your just throwing money, HP and mileage out the exhaust pipes

Re: Question on fuel booster
I run the 90 octane, as 93 octane around here is 2.05 a gallon, and the 90 is only 1.98. BMW says I should run with 90, but I'll try running the lower stuff at mid grade.

Re: Question on fuel booster
Yeah, I tried to see if the booster would make a difference in my car. It didn't, it doesn't matter because all I need is Vtec!!! Just kidding, I know, that was stupid. Late...

well, you are not going to feel any hp gains under 60 horse. You will see it in your times.

Octane boosters only boost the octane a fraction of a point. It won't even make 87 octane 88. If your car has a turbo, advanced timing, or high compression then fill the tank with the highest octane you can find at the pump. That or just look in your owners manual, it should tell you what minimum octane your car should run. Most cars are just fine running on the mid grade. However, if your manual says you should be running 91 or higher don’t skimp. Pre-detonation can do some very ugly things to your engine. You will wish you had spent more money on fuel since the engine repairs will be pretty hefty if you get a bad tank of fuel. Octane boosters are snake oil and are not worth your money.
