Egr

Can somebody describe sign/symptoms of an egr valve gone bad? I am not gettting a trouble code when I jump a-b on obd I equipped 95 astro 4.3 but have intermittent idle problems. Stalling while decel etc. I have replaced the injectors and it passes emissions in Cali.
Thanks

If a an EGR valve is stuck closed, you will notice you use more gas, and might have decrease in preformance in some situations, and eventually you will plug up your cat converter. If the EGR valve is stuck open, the engine will most likely idle rough, depending how far it is stuck upen and most engines will stall or stumble when you are trying to accelerate. But if you are stalling when deaccelerating, my guess would be to check your Throttle Position Sensor. Do you notice if it stalls if you take your foot off the gas pedal quickly? The other thing you can try, and won't cost you, is with engine idling, with the end of small wrench, say 13mm, tap the side of MAF sensor, and listen carefully for any changes in the running engine. If it makes a change, you MAF sensor is shot. Your MAF sensor is located right behind the air cleaner
Good Luck

I pulled the EGR off today and found a carbon chunk a little bigger than a BB holding it open. It took longer getting it back in than it took to fix. It's running fine now.
