trouble codes for a 1992 ranger (2.9)

Anybody know where I can get codes checked for a 1992 ranger? Or can I buy a code scanner at a fairly decent price. I gave it a regular tune up, but the engine idle is irratic, and the gas milage sucks. Just want to find out any possible problems. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Re: trouble codes for a 1992 ranger (2.9)

You might be able to go to an AutoZone if you have one were you live. Also you can go to a ford dealership and they can scan your ecu for the codes. Also you can go to this web page and buy one. http://www.aeswave.com/products/Prod...i=30&sa=Y&vp=1

Only problem is it's about $244.00

You will need to buy an Obd I tester. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I called the autozone store here and they told me that they only have an obd II tester. I'll Try the dealership. Thanks again.
