Looks like Howards wins in Australia!

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2...tm?POE=NEWISVA

Prime Minister John Howard scored a convincing victory in Australia's federal election Saturday, winning a historic fourth term in a vote ensuring the staunch U.S. ally keeps its troops in Iraq.

Labor Party leader Mark Latham conceded defeat in a speech to his supporters in western Sydney, saying he called Howard to congratulate him on his win.

I don't want to link to all the threads that said Howard would be toast, but that was a swing and a miss. He wasn't toast. He wasn't even dough. Its good to see the more liberal party fall and it gives me hope that people still believe they can stand on their own two feet.

You usually are......it's just politics that lets you down.

I gotta head to work.I'll check out the voting stats and come back at you in the morning.I'm sure if you check the number of Latham votes and the number of voters who didn't consider either candidate worthy of o atrip to the polling booths, you'll find that the "convincing victory" that USAToday crows about is really a 'continuation by default.'

Howard is an embarassing little toady. But it's good for our country, because when he's finished fucking their economy, we'll be able to buy Australia off him for a few sheep and a couple of blankets.

Re: Looks like Howards wins in Australia!

[sarcasm]Thanks to the Howard Government[/sarcasm]: Taxes have risen (GST) 10%, my University HECS fee's have risen 25%, Groceries have gone up by 30% - an extra 140 a fortnight. Petrol prices have gone up (libral take over 49% tax from petrol) My mum is paying more tax than she ever has, and even with all these rises, how much has her pay gone up? IT HASN'T.

Fuck you howard. Fuck you and your "rich mans government", fuck you and you "rich mans tax". Fuck you and your shitty party, and fuck you and your shitty haircut, and fake eyebrows, you suck.

When considering the number of eligible voters and the number of votes any candidate gets, nobody (except Saddam who pulled 99.7% of both totals) wins with a plurality. But, I think the best thing that can happen to any government is gridlock.

Good thing you guys elected a loser - it brings comfort to us knowing that the U.S. isn't the only nation where a lobotomy patient is in control.

I don't think I was speaking of winning anything. But now that you've made me think of it, it was wrong for me to imply in any way that G.W. Bush is capable of "controling" anything, except maybe his own bladder.

The first three words are applicable and then it went downhill from there.
