Vibrations
My car seems to vibrate when it sits idle. sometimes soft sometimes hard. i dont know if my idle itself needs adjustment or if its something else. any ideas or suggestions. or ways to possibly fix it?

Re: Vibrations
I have a 92 that does the same thing. I've tried .lots of stuff, it's tuned up and in good shape. I've been told the problem is that I didn't use Motorcraft plugs when it was tuned up. But I don't think that makes sense.

Re: Vibrations
actually, using non-motorcraft plugs can make it run rough

Re: Vibrations
well i got over charged and had brand new plugs and wires proffesionaly replaced. im not sure if their motorcraft or not. if their not, by replacing the plugs with motorcraft ones should fix the problem? do the wires make any difference? do i need any certain type motorcraft plugs?

Re: Vibrations
Just changed the plugs in my 1999 Taurus SE Duratec with 75K miles. Pulled the original Motorcraft ones out - very well worn with large gap and center electrode worn to a little pin shape. Anyhow replaced with Autolite Double Plats and the engine purrs!
Was pleasantly surprised that it was rather easy, remove the cowling and ignition coil only. Nothing but straight ratchet without any u-joints. Highly recommend a magnetic tool for removing loosened plugs and tubing for gettng the new ones started. I had trouble with the spark plug socket stubbornly sticking to the plugs - a real bitch to get out. I was able to visually check all the rear bank using a shop mirror to insure straight alignment before torquing. |

The car electronics are tuned for a specific Motorcraft platinum tipped plug per another message board I use. I have a basic 97 G. I cannot tell you any specifics about your 92. However, I would go with whatever Ford recommends. Plugs are so cheap so why not?
