Really good tunes for driving.....

Sure we all love to listen to music when we drive, but do you have any favourite tunes that just seem to be really well suited for road trips?

Personally, if I have to haul ass for about 100+ miles at high speed, some music from the late 60's early 70's is great.
Lots of music recorded at that time has sophisticated arrangements and complex harmonies to keep me entertained with a good driving beat for shifting the gears.

My favourites are:
The Doors (Especially: LA Woman and Light My Fire)
Chicago's first album
Lighthouse (not the recent band, the old one from the 60's)
Bruce Springsteen from the 70's
some tunes from the Allman Brothers.
Creedance Clearwater Revival

Re: Really good tunes for driving.....

Since my favoured roads are twisty and tight, I really don't listen to music, I much prefer the sound of a 1.5 single-carb 1.5 Nah, I went for a drive today and tried listening to the radio, but turned it off in disgust.

But if I'm cruising, then I normally just chuck on a Compilmation of new wave music from the 80's

I'd enjoy listening to my engine if it wasn't ruined by the slushomatic piece of shit.

techno.... not just because i love it anyway, but it makes such good car music, it really gets u pumped... im into trance, dance, NRG, hardhouse, hardcore and some other misc stuff. apart from the people that genuinely like it, i hate the fags who pump their rap music when their cruisin around busy streets at 15 mph or any time they are trying to look cool. i like rap, well some of it the good stuff, but i dont play it around other people much because its not really a reflection of me.

Speaking of the Doors. Go get yourself their Live in Concert 2 disc album. Road House Blues (Disc one) is a badass driving tune!!
