Question Third Row Seat

Anybody use a 3rd Row Seat in their Grand? I'm looking to buy one and would love some feedback. I see one from www.littlepassengerseats.com for about a grand, delivered. They claim all the safety cudos in the world. Then there is the one for about $350.00 delivered from a variety of sites, built by "Outland". I can't seem to find much on either company from 3rd party sources. Anyone know about the safety and quality of build on the Outland seats vs. the ones by littlepassengerseats?

Thanks,
David

Re: Third Row Seat

Just make sure they are approved by the DOT, that way you know it'll be safe and crashworthy. I'd assume the installation and mounting will be laborous to make it safe. Does it include seat belts and mounting hardware? Maybe research via consumer reports...just an idea.

Re: Re: Third Row Seat

I took the issue to Consumer Reports on line, but no joy. I guess this must still be too small a niche for them to venture into. I wish they'd do something about it before I get off my wallet here. Both brands I've found have seatbelts and you buy a mounting kit customized for your specific vehicle, of course the real 'spensive one has headrests and shoulder harnesses and the bracket allows access to the interior spare compartment without dismounting the seat to boot. I guess that explains the three-times as much price tag. ($1000.00-ish vs. $350-ish) For that price I wonder if it includes a slapping-arm extension to help keep 'em in line way back there???

Cool Good Wifey

Well, in commemoration of this forum's bodacious dearth of details regarding the subject seats, my wonderful little bride got on the phone and called the manufacturers/suppliers in question. All claimed to produce seats in compliance with DOT specs. We chose a hand-crafter whose seats have headrests and shoulder belts and who promised to get our specimine to the shipper within four weeks. He did, by the way, save us two hundred bucks compared to the afore-mentioned shop. I should be able to provide a positive identification within a few days of that and whether or not he's worth his salt. Thanks to all who replied to raise our spirits if not our knowledge level.

Third row seat, thats funny!!! I would hate to be sitting back there when/if someone rear-ends you. I would face it looking out the back window to avoid any "Safety Issue's". Although i think riding in a car while facing backwords would make me puke!!!! Here is a better idea, put a subwoofer in the back and let it thump.

Re: Third Row Seat

Yah, go with the sub. Cheaper to replace than kids if you do end up getting rear ended.

Re: Third Row Seat

Some kids need mouth buckles more than seatbelts to keep 'em safe... (By the way, they pay me to take kids. Cool, huh?)
