Will this be any good?

here's the deal. I just bought an MTX thunder 240, its an older amp, 200 W, I believe 50wx2 rms, I have a pioneer deh-p6500 headunit, and factory speakers all the way around. My front speakers sound good. I got my deck set up to boost bass on my rear 6x9's and boost treble on my front 6.5's. The thing is, I have my deck faded a little to the back, so I can hear the music evenly. You know. Recently I noticed one of my 6x9's developed a rattle to it. It still plays music, but it rattles. I think its on the verge of blowing. Back to the amp. I want to use this amp to hit a couple of lets say pioneer 6x9's, would this be sufficient, would it blow them? Any other suggestions? Thanks guys. I really know nothing about amps, and which ones are good, although I have seen a lot of fried sonys come through the shop. All I know how to do is hook them up, and repair them. I dont want subs, I like to hear music, not bass tones, so dont suggest that. Thanks

c'mon, no one can tell me if a 200W amp will hit 6x9's better than my p6500?

I hate it when people say that, it just makes them look ignorant.....

anywho, yes an external amp will make your 6x9s "hit harder", and it will also make them drown out the fronts. Do you really want all of your music to be coming from behind you? I don't understand when people spend all this money and time on the rears and leave the fronts stock. Oh well, it's your car and your sound system.

btw - that rattle you hear either means the speaker's suspension is shot, or it's developed some tinsel slap. If it's the latter then you can fix it with some felt, if it's the former then you're screwed. I wouldn't bother fixing it though since it's just some stock speakers, you would spend more on the felt than you would buying new factory 6x9s.

Re: Will this be any good?

ok, thanks, yeah, I was just gonna fade my music more towards the front with my deck, because the front speakers seem more able to handle the deck power. I know it sounds strange, but when I crank it, most of the distortion comes from the back, not the front, I have the bass only coming out of the back, and the fronts can handle the high wattage highs very well for some reason, does this make sense?
