ECU results
Flam me if you want but this is my first time running ECU diagnostics. I got an error code 13 and on average 10 blinks per second for O2 sensor diagnostics on both sides.
13 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor The Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor circuit is open or shorted (abnormally high or low voltage is registered). Harness and connector Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor Now, my guage does take about 5 min to get around the middle area from a cold boot in the morning. I know it takes while to warm up, but it does still work. Any ideas? And anyone know if it's nessessary to replace my O2 sensors? I get pretty poor gas milage and I always thought it was the O2 sensors but they passed the 5 beeps/10 sec check during diagnostics. |

Re: ECU results
Poor gas milage can be caused by a faulty ECT, ETS. This will prevent the car from going into closed loop operations and it will continue to dump fuel into the engine tring to warm it up. Check the ECT/ETS with a volt/ohm meter. I will explain later if you dont know how.
EDIT: Forgot one thing your temp gauge in your car cluster is not conected to your engine temp sensor, they are two different sensors, but are side by side on the engine. The dash one will still work even if the other one has failed, but the ECU doest see the dash sensor one as a proper reading for it to go into closed loop. |

Re: ECU results
let me know how to check the ect/ets, i think that is what may be wrong with my car. but then again, when i did a diagnostics of my ecu, it gave me code "55" which means nothing is wrong. but i still want to check it.

Re: ECU results
Hodo, would you be kind enough to show us how to proceed checking the ECT/ETS with a volt/ohm meter? I'm sure most of us will appreciate it, thanks.
EDIT: Would I have to replace this then? http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...Code=22630-Z32 Last edited by neogenesis; 10-09-2004 at 08:57 AM. |
