Re: factory alarm

Where are you getting your info? It is one of the easiest newer cars to mess with. The disarm wire is orange/black in the DKP 32 pin plug location 5. It automatically arms when you lock it. If you need more, email me. Also, curious what you are installing exactly.

Re: factory alarm

yes, you have the VATS system so you need to pay very close attention to what you do on that. If not, the car will not start, not even with the keys!

Re: factory alarm

Yes, (Vehical AntiTheft System). It is the little black chip in the body of the ignition key. Not all cars have them. The true Passkey system is mostly on the newer cars although some started in late '97 cavaliers, sunfires and simular platforms. They have progressed to "same but different" systems now. Like my '01 Silverado has PK2 system while the new '05 Grand Prix, big Caddys(excluding Escalade), and other lines have PK3 systems on them now none of which have any sort of "chip" in the key that you can see. In fact, the PK1 and PK2 do not use special keys but the PK3 systems do.

The below link may also help you out with verifying the wires.
