Power Windows Duel 2
As I said before about the power windows on my 1983 Thunderbird, the epoxy is a sure thing. The nine tooth gear adhears to the plactic piece inside the motor very well. The problem with rebuilding or installing motors is that they are hard to get at. I had to cut metal back with pliers to get access to the three bolts. When rebuilding motors always remember to put it back together right. IT took some time for me to realize the marks on the magnetic piece and the core. They had to line up properly. To make things worse, on one of the motors I tighted the two long bolts to tight and the piece that rides the coil and turns the plactic piece popped out on one end. It would no longer stay in place. I had to push it. So what I did was, pushed in the piece and put in the little round piece of metal on end just like the other side.It is a little brass washer of some sort.Any ways the piece rides it.After that I put on the piece of core that fell off, just two little pieces. I then got electric tape and pressed it down while carefully hold the pieces on. I put about 20 pieces of tape around the motor and then the other way to make sure there was no play the piece. As long as it holds in place then it won't spin and since the spacers is there for the piece to ride. But it works! I have living proof plus epoxy works. They work like they are brand new!!!!!!. IT was said at ford I would have to pay $550.00 Canadain to replace one motor and have it installed.and more for the drivers side. Thats over a thousand bucks. IT cost me $5.00 and a bit headaches but you can't beat this. Good luck to you doing powerwindows. Oh and more thing don't overtighten the two bolts, or the motor won't even turn, hand tight then half a turn, and make sure the windows in mounted right in all places, if noit stick a bolt through it and fix it.
