2004 Quest Features

I have had my 2004 Quest SL for a few days now and am absolutely loving it.

A couple quick questions.

(1) The owners manual suggests maintenance every 3750 miles. The maintenance alert on my Quest SL can only be set in increments of 500 miles thereby making it impossible to set at exactly 3750. Am I missing a way to adjust this properly or did Nissan overlook this? My vehicle does not have the Nav System although in the owner's manual it appears that you can set it to 3750 if you have the Nav System according to a graphic. Please let me know if you know a way to set this properly. What are your feelings towards maintenance intervals? Are you sticking to the manual?

(2) Are people running premium through their 3.5 engines or normal 87 octane. I want to avoid pinging but with the gas prices the way they are I would also like to run a lower grade if possible. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Other items for Quest newbies that I noticed after reading the manual that are not obvious (At least to me):

(1) When stowing the 3rd row seat press the release button and fold the entire seat back first and then you can easily fold the bottom of the seat down. I was doing the opposite. I was folding the back of the seat forward and then trying to bring the whole thing back by pressing the button with one hand and pulling the strap with the other. It was very difficult for me and impossible for my wife to press the release button and pull on the strap when it was 3 feet away. This may be stating the obvious but I know that I saw some feedback from someone else that was doing the same thing when I was researching.

(2) Pressing and holding the unlock button on the keyfob will lower the driver and passenger windows until you let go.

Still going through the manual. Will let you know if I find any other cool options.

Re: 2004 Quest Features

I use regular 87 octane at sea level here in Maine. I have had this engine before in a Maxima and it runs markedly better with premium unleaded in higher elevations. Otherwise, use regular. If you notice a ping, try 91.
