exhaust mods

What have you guys done to upgrade your exhaust? I'm not one of those bozos that thinks dual exhaust works on everything, I just want some ideas.

Are the stock pipes 2 inches? I heard 2.25 sounds good.

BlazerLT, I saw your decarbonization videos, and I like how yours sounds. Did you leave the stock pipes (it looks stock) and put a performance muffler on, or have you replaced all the pipes too?

Re: exhaust mods

I went to 2 1/4 pipes on everything and bolted in a FloPro muffler. No problems! The truck sounds "mean" but not loud enough to warrant hearing protection when running. Also, opening up the exhaust in this manner makes it really brutal when going around in the slop and mud off-road. Low end power comes on much faster and stays there all the way through the RPM range. Gets slightly better mileage too when all you do is fetch groceries or take a run down the highway. Combined with an aftermarket air filter or modded intake, it pays for itself with gas savings alone. I merely dropped in a K&N Filtercharger replacement for the OEM filter and then cut the airbox out to make it look like a heat shield more than a box. *laugh*

Re: exhaust mods

i have a 95 blazer with a cone air filter and a Red Hot glasspack. 2.5" pipes from the cat back. sounds mean and when you really press on it, it sounds mean. i've been told it sounds a little higher pitched then a flow master but its on the border of sound limit only at high RPMS. other wise its kinda quiet but it can be heard. better gas mileage as well. with no pipe behind the glass pack makes it over the limit but it sopunds really good.
