Question Custom Grill for 04 Denali

I am looking to replace the chrome plated plastic grill on our 04 Denali. I do not want the GMC logo back in it. I have seen some clip in versions but they look kind of cheap. Does anybody know of a maker that has a billet polished type?

Thanks

Jeff

Are you looking for the same exact grill as the factory one just without the GMC symbol? If so, good luck... I bought my Denali in Nov. '03 and have been looking for a grill ever since. The only ones I have found are very cheap looking, like you said. Kinda like the Denali style grills you see people put on Envoys... The best solution I have found so far is to just get a chrome GMC symbol, so at least it kinda blends in... If you happen to come across a nice grill, let me know. Thanks, and good luck...

Re: Custom Grill for 04 Denali

I've been looking for the same grill and like zutoo said, everything on the market is junk. It seems to me it would be easy to manufacture an aftermarket grill just like the OEM Denali grill with the GMC logo.

Re: Custom Grill for 04 Denali

Thanks for the feedback, So my search continues.

Might have to make one. I have seen a few billet style but when I ask to look at them, they are made by Stille or some name like that and they are pop in's over factory deal. I am concerned about air flow to the motor. They look very restrictive. I want to remove the plastic inserted honey comb looking unit and replace with Billet. Sadly, I actually really like the OEM honeycomb grill but GMC made a flat spot where the GMC log resides and if you take it off, it looks silly. Wish they had the logo bolt to the grill like the early emblems used to then you could just take it off.

I am still searching.

Re: Custom Grill for 04 Denali

i didnt want the all chrome emblem that ive seen around but i didnt want the red one so i went to pepboys and picked up some color matching gm pewter paint, primer and some clear coat and painted my emblem. it looks so much better now and it wasnt that hard to do (just a little time consuming because i used a total of 9 light coats, 3 primer, 3 base and 3 clear).

all you have to do is use a scuff pad to scuff up the plasctic gm that has the red underneath and then tape up the whole emblem and use a razor to cut around the edge of the gmc emblem leaving the chrome trim taped up. then just do your light coats leaving about 10-15 minutes between and you are done. i did mine at night so the emblem could nice and dry by the morning. i looked on ebay and found some oem emblems for about $20 so i wasnt real worried about messing up.

here are a couple of pics (the emblem looks a little darker in the pics but it matches perfect in person)....

and here is a closeup of the 2nd picture...

Re: Custom Grill for 04 Denali

Nali02,
Hey that looks clean. Nice touch. I have the dark red(Maroon) color. The emblem actually matches the color quite well but still stands out an awful lot. This might be the answer. Where did you see the other emblems? Were they painted or the factory "redish" color?

Thanks

Re: Custom Grill for 04 Denali

at the time i just found them on ebay, most were mint and some brand new. all of them were normal unpainted emblems. here is another pic i found....

as you can see i maintained the chrome trim around the emblem, and like i said earlier i didnt want to go the all chrome emblem route as i thought it was going to be too much crome concentrated in one area.

since that picture i have added the clear parking lenses and it really made the look of the grille flow well with the emblem, no more red emblem sticking out like a soar thumb. (check out the first picture in my first post)

Re: Custom Grill for 04 Denali

Best you can do is keep watching Ebay. A few months ago I plugged in Denali and it came up with not only the grill but the whole wrap around lights chrome but it had a silver square where the GMC Logo would be. I did however find this over at Street Scene. http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/str...e--grill-.html

I believe it's the grill on the very bottom of the page. The Silver logo looks tight nali02

By replacing the bumper grille ($125) and billet grille ($115), total with installation under $400.00, your SUV will stand out more

good luck

Re: Custom Grill for 04 Denali

I did the same thing, but went with a Street Scene speed grille.

http://www.streetsceneeq.com

I would have LOVED to have found a Denali-style grill with no emblem plate, but no such luck.

Take care,
Jerry
