95 disco problems

Hi guys I have three different problems in my car and I wanted to know if you guys can help me out #1 the front moonroof doest retract by itself it kinda want to but just goes up a little and gets stuck, but if you pust the glass up while pressing the button it goes all the way back fine. #2 my two rear side window they tend to get stuck in either the upper position or lower but sometimes they work fine and #3 there is a loud noise (like knocking or if something loose "ratteling") coming from the bottom of the driver side of the car I wanted to know if I could check if it is the catalytic converter and if any would fit or does it have to be specific thankyou!

Re: 95 disco problems

I can't help with #1 or 2 very easily. but as for #3, You don't want to have to replace the catalytic converter in a Land Rover because the cats are in a y-pipe. That means, if you have to replace one, you gotta replace the other one too. They get pretty pricey too. I would first check the connection between the y-pipe flange and the exhaust manifold. I have seen those bolts come loose, and I have seen the exhaust pipe crack right in that area, which causes it to rattle. If that doesn't seem to be it, I would check everything else underneath the car first. Just grab a hold of everything with one of your hands and give it a good shake. If you feel any play in anything, that could be where the rattle is coming from. One major thing under there to check would be the front drive shaft. Grab onto it and shake it side to side, and up and down. If either of the u-joints moves, then that's probably where your sound is coming from and they need to be replaced. Good luck with it, and let us know what you find!

Thankyou Cbass94 I followed your advice and went underneath the disco and I started shaking everything and I found couple of loose washers and bolts were the big muffler is but I don't think its a muffler maybe a resonator. Well the noise is gone thankyou very much you saved me a lot of money

Just glad that problem worked out well for you. Now, hopefully someone else will chime in with answers to the other ones!...
