I have a '92 bmw 520i and the readout on the dash just displays CODE ?.

Any one know how to get rid of this or how to enter a code, even if I had one ???
Best Regards...

Re: BMW 520i dashboard

you likely have a failed 'driver' in one of the clusters components, most like the 'main board'. though it's unlikely, do check your fuses. that's about all you can do w/o some equipment.

Re: BMW 520i dashboard

You may have some capacitors that may have fried and are causing erratic gauge cluster activities. It was an issue with earlier E34s but it also may be contributing to your problem.

Re: BMW 520i dashboard

This certianly applies to the '92 E34's but from what I've read of the experiences of those who have replaced those capacitors, the clusters failed again leading me to think their failure leads to other component failures in the cluster. Even 'Reman.' clusters have problems probably due to lack of 'hot' testing. Replacement still seems the best fix.
