Weak Fuel Pump?

What's up guys, I have a 1991 F-150, a bone stock 302, with no exhaust, (cut it off, sounds great). Is there such a thing as a weak fuel pump, how would I tell, I only use my front tank, but for the past month every time I start and drive it will gurggle and hesitat acting like it has bad gas, I'll be able to drive for about a 4-6 miles before it will break down, always. Every Fucking Time. I changed the fuel filter, the pressure regulator is fine, I'm pretty sure the problem has somtheing to do with my fuel system. Oh yea, after the four to six miles when it dies, it will start up after about twenty minutes. Then when I'd take it on the highway it will hesitate and sometimes cut out. I don't know what the hell is wrong I'm a pretty good shade tree mechanic but I have alot to learn and I'm in college so time is of the essence, I'd appreciate any help ya'll could render me. Thanks for reading.
-Erik.

I have a 1988 F150 5.0 with the same problem. Have you found a solution yet?

Re: Weak Fuel Pump?

i have an 83 f-100 that was gave to me. It needs it's share of work, but hey it was free. Anyway. I had a very similar problem. The truck would start fine, no problems (except having to use starter fluid on cold days). I could go forever (as far as 5 mpg would take ya, lol) but, if I would kill the truck, I would have to wait about 30 mins before it would start, and if it would start before then, it would consistantly die. And then wouldn't start. I ended up changing the fuel pump, and haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps.

Re: Weak Fuel Pump?

I had the same dealing about 2 years ago, change both in tank pumps and rail pump and filter, relay, eec. And same troubles. Went to vacum tree and strated removing hoses, next thing you know car runs fine, not sure what this line went too, and don't care. Truck runs now, (one down side) drinks a hell lot more gas, but get's me from A to B.
