Cavalier Z24 S/C Vs Mustang GT

i finally got a good run today with a mustang GT. I was on my way home from work, and kinda in the mood to race cause work was a bitch and i was really happy to be outa there. So anways the night had two races, but the first one was more like a near death experience for the other driver. This late model accura comes flying up to me and starts pacing me. So we start chasing eachother down the road. Get to a stop light, then the fucker doesnt want to race and he just takes off normally. So im like whatever, then he comes flying past me again. So i get on it and have quickly caught up to him and am now passing him. Well as i am passing him, (hes in the far left, im in the next lane to the right) a car pulls out in front of him, were doing about 70ish in a 45. The other car wasnt going more than 30MPH. So i see it then i look over and the stupid idiot is still flooring it. I coudlnt believe it, he was still trying to pass me before he ran into the other car, but i was obviously pulling on him. Luckily i saw that no one was in the lane to the right of me so i moved over so he wouldnt have hit the person. After that i just let the punkass go his own way. He was way to dangerous/stupid to be racing. I know for a fact if that car was in front of me, i would have hit it. Not a chance in hell i would have been able to stop in time for it.

So now onto the fun race, the Mustang GT. Well once i let the Acura go, i noticed their was a 2000+ Mustang GT next to me. Looked pretty stock. So we play around for a few miles, getting on the gas and off, not really getting to hard into it cause of traffic. Finally we get a clearing. From a roll of about 30MPH we both punch it at about the same time, to his suprise and mine we stay dead even all the way up to 80ish. At which point we have to start slowing down for traffic and a light again. I look over and give him the thumbs up, he does the same, then i take the next U turn and head home. A nice clean fast race with no problems, just the way my adrenaline likes it.

Cliff Notes

Acura almost kills himself trying to beat me, i let him live.

Mustang GT stays dead even with me from a roll at 30MPH-80MPH

good race man...it's a shame that people have to let the race get in the way of common sense...that would be a bad way to go out...street racing....to others that may be the best way out...but i'd rather die as an old man....

Re: Cavalier Z24 S/C Vs Mustang GT

Coming from me this may seem stupid, but I honestly think most Acura drivers think they are invincible. A lot of integra drivers think they are the shiz. Just because they are a glorified honda they always think they have the advantage over my car. Anyway, nice job keeping up with the mustang. I know I'd be blown away any day. Late...

Re: Cavalier Z24 S/C Vs Mustang GT

nice i have a supercharged Z24 aswell though i have a 98 and had to do some stuff to get it to work with out a reflash anyways

nice race if you do a search i had a run in with a 00+Gt a few months ago and i posted it on here needless to say i pretty much won

people underestamate a Z24 and no one even knows they have a supercharger out for it

so what types of mods are you running besides your charger?? i would imagine your pretty much stock running a 14.7 but you never know

It's nice to see some guys who have actually decent Caveliers, instead of the ricers in my area putting on a muffler and an aluminum wing, and claiming 12's. Good race.

Re: Cavalier Z24 S/C Vs Mustang GT

well in case you dont know im an automatic, so thats why the 1/4 mile is only 14.7. As for other kills. Spyder GT, Mustang 5.0, BMW 325i, Jaguar Xtype 3.0, Acura, Mustang GT, umm so far thats it, only had the SC for about a month now.

As for the nice cavaliers, thank you. I know i hate those cars too, my favorite thing to do is to beat the crap outa rice cavaliers. Alot of people dont know how well the 2.4L responds to boost. Its incredible the speed gains you get from it. I went from a 16.1 to a 14.7 with like 4.5-5 PSI of boost.

A few years ago now when I was looking for my first car, I took a Z24 out for a test drive. Even in stock form, I was thoroughly impressed. Very quick. There's a guy with a clean looking Z24 around here, running mid 14's N/A, but he's done quite a bit of 'nifty stuff'. I have heard that they do, in fact, respond well to boost, as you've pointed out. Nice ride.

if your an automatic then thats a great time keep up the good work

and yes the 2.4L LD9 responds very well to boost and loves bolt ons with the charger

just no one knows this lol so its all most like your a sleeper in a cavalier even if it is decked out lol

Looking at you guy's engine pics makes me miss my Beretta GTZ. 180HP 150ft-lbs TQ stock from a 2800lb 4-banger.
