Engine Swap [Need Help!!!]

I recently crashed running from the police with my friend. I had a 1996 Integra LS, I got hit in the right rear. Frame bent and basically pretty messed up. Im not going to be fixing this integra but im bidding on copart auction for a 1999 Integra GS-R. It's stripped, has no engine and no interior. I want to swap my interior and my engine into the 99 integra. My question is, will the wiring from the 99 be different for my 96 engine? If so, would it be hard to replace the wiring from my 96 integra into the 99 integra?

My accedent with my friend running from the cops was on the news. If you would like to read about my story please visit http://www.katu.com/news/story.asp?ID=66161. The car on the picture is my friends integra. He crashed into me when we were both running from the cops on 2 integras. he was a little drunk.... hehe...

Re: Engine Swap [Need Help!!!]

You cant swap an older year into a newer year according to CA laws. Not sure bout Oregon though. Everything otherwise should bolt right up. Replacing everything is a reversal of what you pulled out.

How old are you. The vehicle you crashed is registered to whom? So your license is not revoked? The vehicle was not forfited to the county? You are not in juvenille hall? Your pending charges are?

Just a curious

Tickets

Thanks for your help you guys... about what happened to me is a long story but ill try to make it short.

At the time I crashed i was 17. Now im 18, and i had my court when i turned 18. They gave me 6 counts:

111mph on 55mph ticket: $410
Speed Racing: $410
Reckless Driving: $Court
Hit and Run: $Court
Misdeminor Elute on Foot
Felony Elute on Car

They gave me that many violations, I hired a lawyer, I paid him $2,000. After all the courts, they gave me: One year stay out of police trouble, and take a 1day driving class - THATS IT!!! Then after one year they drop the felony down to a misdeminor, then do some community service. And then they erase all this off my record. All the tickets are dismissed.

About my car:
My car was pretty messed up that the cops did NOT want to sieze it. They let me get it out of the tow yard and take it home. It's currently in my garage waiting for my auction date to bid on the 99 integra which is next week on wednesday. Ill keep you guys posted about the auction.

Here is my integra in my garage:

Traffic violations cannot be erased from your records. Juvenille delinquent offenses can be sealed, but, three years must have elapsed from time of sentencing to the time of petitioning a sealing of your juvenille records. Also, you must not have recieved any pending and unresolved court cases (including traffic) when and during the petetioning process. CA laws of course.

I ask if your vehicle was siezed, because, there is a ordinance coming out in San Diego, CA that will allow law enforcement to seize your vehicle if you are arrested for street racing. Spectators have two chances. 1st time is unlawful assembly (infraction), 2nd time is forfieting your vehicle to law enforcement. This may be a test county for other CA counties out here.

San Diego claims there tough position on street racing has dropped the death rates from street racing from 2001 (33 deaths) to 2003 (3 deaths). One of my professors who have been researching laws on street racing and a fellow drag racer himself with a nissan datsun Dr.John Worral (Dept. of Criminal Justice) CSUSB has been researching San Diego's laws and ordinance on street racing and its affectiveness at detering. Though, street racing deaths has declined, the decline is not totally due to San Diego's position on street racing. There are many more other factors leading to this decline than just a tougher stance on street racing. pretty good punch line for politicians to use to make them appear a little tougher when election time comes around. Anyways, too long of a story.

So be careful out there SD guys. Your cars will be siezed and auctioned to other AF members out there maybe me, if the price is right

Re: Engine Swap [Need Help!!!]

That same law is around my house (Syracuse NY), most cops won't take your car but they can. One of my buddies friends took my friend's car for a drive, raced some guy and ended up getting caught down the street (coming back). The cop called the tow truck when my buddy pulled up, but my friend told him pretty much to f**k off cause it was his car (not those exact words but pretty close) and it was just down the street from his house. The cop let him go with a loud muffler ticket but gave his friend a bunch of tickets. But yes traffic violations can be erased from your record if you take the (i believe it's called) defensive driving course. It will drop points from your license (don't remember how many) or improve your insurance rate, but it will erase violations from your record too. And it sounds like that's what he did. But I don't think most places are as stricked as Cali in their automotive laws.

oh ya, driving courses will erase them, but, there has to be an 18 month elapse time in order to do this...........or is it shorter (could be 12 months, i forgot).

This does not include serious traffic violations..............does it? DUIs? I think the DUI falls more into criminal.

correct

yes you are correct about the 3 year record. It will be on my record for 3 years. I didnt really clearify myself. But Oregon laws are a little different then CA, i dont know exactally how but they are. And basically its true like you said about the car gettin siezed, it all depends in the police officers choice. Luckly this police officer gave me my car back, although heavily damaged (hehe).

But about the wiring question. Any thoughts?

Re: Engine Swap [Need Help!!!]

the wiring should be the same, as both cars are OBDII, although im not sure if the 99 is OBDIIb, which will constitute a few changes to be made.

but as far as i know, it is illegal to swap a motor into a car that is older than the car itself. you might wanna check that, before you bid on this.

Forgot to note that if you were convicted of a felony during your adult years, and you have not sealed your juvenille records already, you will never be able to seal it again. I think this law is very unjust and would recommend hiring an attorney if a situation like this came up.
