Hey there! i've been reading about the exact 0-60mph times, 5.4 being achievable by dumping or feathering the clutch at 7000rpm, and a time of 6-6.5 secs for your average driver. But what exactly do you do to get the best time? what is feathering of the clutch? any tips on how to best launch the s2000? THANKS!

Re: Exactly how do you best launch the s2k?
There's a video of a 350z w/ an intake and exhaust I believe and an s2000 with 18' SSRs, and the s2k takes the 350z from 0-60... 5.3 is acheivable by launching in vtec (6100rpm) but you do not feather the clutch.
hold RPMs just over 6000, let go of the clutch QUICKLY, don't dump it but move back on it very quick, so that you have control of it & don't feather. as soon as the clutch is fully engaged, floor it. |

Re: Exactly how do you best launch the s2k?
Ummm. NO. Kinda right but not letting the clutch very fast.
That would cause lots of wheelspin and the S2000 would be stuck for at least a second spining wheels. To achieve those times you feather the clutch, that is revving the car up to 7000 rpms and letting the clutch go in a quick way but not as fast as you can. Between how you normally drive and dumping it, so you get maybe a wheelspin and then the car starts moving and you control the gas with the clutch so the car is always revved, then when the car is in full motion you fully release the clutch and fully press the gas. Its tricky. I know how to do it pretty well know, but thats because ive practiced at least 30 times at a track...thats just trying different things. Ive raced tons more. I do the same thing on my 1999 Si...taking it to 6500 and performing the magic move.

Re: Exactly how do you best launch the s2k?
good theory, ive heard the exact same thing only that some drop the clutch at 6600 were the vtec has been activited, i dont think that will make such a big difference, but regulating the clutch can be good. I understand that the civic is f/f so youll need a special type of launch because of the traction f/f 's have, so the clutch feathering is good in that case, it should be about the same for the s2000.
