99 Camry Hesitation

Hi:

During cold operation the Camry hesitates from a stop. The car also gives feedback on the hiway when cold, as though the fuel is being cut.

I have changed the plugs. The Car has 107,000 kms. It gets a regular oil changes and I have purchased a new fuel filter. I know my wife uses crappy gas.

But I am wondering, from reading Brian R.'s reply to the Engine replacement thread, about the EGR Lift Sensor.

Is this "hesitation" a symptom the Sensor is failing?
No Engine light comes on during the hesitation.

I will change the Fuel Filter tomorrow and post the result.

Re: 99 Camry Hesitation

If the symptoms go away after heating up, you can eliminate EGR..

On my 96 Camry with 81,000 miles, I found last week the opposite: Runs fine when cold, but stalls at stop signs wnen hot. Found the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor was reporting to the Computer minus 7 F when it actually hit plus 198 F.
Get your Temp Sensor checked when cold...

I agree with niceguy, check that sensor, and go ahead and change that fuel filter since it's run on crappy gas.

Fuel Filter Changed

Well I changed the fuel filter today. The Hesitation is gone.
NAPA Auto reg. $76 I paid $46 CDN. not tooo bad.

I did check resistance in all the sensors I could find, Temp, EGR.
All were in Spec.

Thank's for the feedback.

Re: 99 Camry Hesitation

here's a similar problem with a solution from another site as quoted

"1995 Camry Stalling (update)
by "Phillip Lassiter" <plassiter@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 8, 2004 at 04:45 PM

I finally found the invoice when the dealer cured the stalling problem.
Then
I called them and asked them to explain. They said they proformed a
"Tottle
body fuel injection clean" They explained that I had carbon builtup every
where. And this fixed the stalling problem. More stuff I dont understand.
But so far so good"
