Who will win?

A 1995-1999 Maxima se 5spd. vs. 1992-1995 Ford Taurus SHO 5spd.
This is a good match up. Which do you think has better performance?

Re: Who will win?

well motor trends review of the 1995 maxima says this:

Motor Trend, Road Test, June 1994
"Our tester, a five-speed SE version of this fourth generation of Maxima, produced a blazing 6.6-second 0-60-mph time, and a 15.2-second, 92.4-mph quarter-mile run. Ask us,
and we'll tell you how the Maxima SE will whip the Integra GS-R, and Taurus SHO;
the new Maxima also shows no mercy on its Nissan stablemates: It'll stomp the normally aspirated 300ZX, and drivers of automatic-transmissioned 300ZX Turbos best not be snoozing when the light goes green.
This demure-looking family car is the quickest Japanese sedan available in the States."
my friend had a 95 SHO 5 speed when i had my 95 max. i never lost to him.

I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a 1991-1995 Taurus still on the road, but I bet I could find a 1991-1995 max inside of 15 minutes. I could 1995-1999 max by just walking to the curb and I'll pass one inside 10 minutes. A max will run until you are just tired of driving it. I think my 1997 is just going to be in better shape than almost any SHO you'd run into. I overheard a guy that owned one and he blew the engine racing w/o mods. It maybe build to go fast, but it ain't built like a Nissan.

Re: Who will win?

3rd gen SHOs are a good race. The newer ones are a joke. I walk them from 0 to when-I-chose-to-stop

Re: Who will win?

Yes, NA is naturally aspirated and FI is forced induction.

Re: Who will win?

^ It's all good, I didn't write the review i just cut and pasted it. Any beefs with the terminology used is on Motor Trend. However, normally aspirated and naturally aspirated are interchangable terms. Kinda like flammable and inflammable. both are cosidered correct. In conversation though, i personally refer to it as natural aspiration also.

Re: Who will win?

the early SHO.s are sleepers just like our 4th gens. in some states they were POLICE INTERCEPTORS!! dont be surprised if you find one.

i guess you could loom at it that way. it's a yamaha engine though, they get some of the blame too. i don't even know why they switched to a v8, it made the same hp as the v6 but was heavier, slower and ate more gas.
