transmission problems

can someone help me out i have a1990 mazda GXL automatic transmission, the only way it shifts is if i let the gas pedal go, if i hold the gas pedal the rpm goes hi but doesnt switsh gears what can this be?

I'm not sure about this maybe someone else can back this up or determine if its wrong but your tv cable could be out of adjustment. Its the other cable that runs to the throttle body not the gas or the cruise.

i dont know too much about rx7's and what not. im in the process of learning.

but also, you might want to try resetting the computer by unplugging the battery cables. in my 300zx, i had to let off the gas a little to shift or else it would hold on to gears. i researched it and i came up with something about your tranny sometimes goes in to "limp home" mode if a signal was not sent correctly to the comp.

try changing out the transmission fluid... i don't know if that actually works, but i used to drive an old buick that woudl do the same thing. drained the tranny and put in new fluid and it worked fine. it might jsut be gunked up or something

i already changed the fluid put in new tranny filter, the computer has been reseted .
