Stuck in 4 low

Having problems getting my 87 Bronco II out of 4 Low. I tried the beating on the motor with a hammer trick, but didnt do any good. The lights on the push button dont even come on, nor does the 4X4 indicator light come on. If the motor was bad, wouldnt the 4X4 indicator light be on seeing it is in 4 wheel drive?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Your motor would have nothing to do with it. It is most likely somewhere in your tranfer case.

Is it that the shifter is physically stuck in 4 low, or will the shifte move, but won't do anything??

I don't have a shifter. It's electronic push button 4WD. I'm talking about the electric motor on the T-case that shifts it into Low.

Re: Stuck in 4 low

your motor in the t-case may be bad. or the 4x4 control panel is shot. mine only works when it wants. what i recommend is ripping out the electronic 4x4 control and motor and putting the old lever back in.
