Sagging rear springs

Hello, My 95 has a topper and has started sagging a little due to the extra weight. Whats the cheapest best way to give it a little lift?

Re: Sagging rear springs

This is actualy a really good question. I wanted to bring up the rear springs in my '95 S10 pickup around 100k and bolted on add-a-leafs...BIG MISTAKE!!! They stressed the old sagging springs and actualy made them fracture around 135k (luckly it broke when jacked up to check brakes, how lucky is that). I went to a custom spring shop and had the springs made for me. This not only gave me the the lift I wanted but was cheaper then buying new ones.

How about helper springs that go on the shocks?Wife had a mini van that sagged and I put these on it and it did the trick.

Re: Sagging rear springs

There is a the air lift kit you can install too.

What are you talking about when you are saying you installed a topper?

Re: Sagging rear springs

the cheapest way is to purchase air shocks. they cost about 80.00 and you apply air pressure to them and they will lift the ass end up to original ride height. we have done it to our dealership s10. we use the truck for cleaning the new cars and they installed a 100 gallon tank in the back of the bed and it lifted it completly up to normal ride height.

Re: Sagging rear springs

If the springs are sagging they are getting near the end of their life cycle. Over millions of flex cycles the steel can become harder and more brittle, called "cold working" or "cold hardening." While the metal becomes slightly stiffer over time, making it stay at a sagged position, it is also more brittle. This means that the chance for a hairline fracture increases. My new ones cost $115 and it was money well spent, they were even custom made to give me a stiffer spring rate.
