Idle RPM too high

Hi. Been reading this forum for a few months. Saved me the purchase of what I thought was a bad computer module for the price of a timing belt. My wife has a 92 Conv. 5 spd. we replaced the engine in, late last year, (used import, worked great.) but being new at this I didn't replace the clutch when every thing was apart. We did do it 2 weeks ago though. After replacing the clutch and everytrhing was finally bolted back together, fired the little thing up and the engine RPM idled at about 2200 instead of the 850 - 900 before I started. (Didn't do a thing to th engine itself) Was able to adjust the idle speed down to 1400 RPM but thats as far as the adjustment would allow. Checked all the vacuum lines, etc. and everything looks fine. Any suggestions on why the RPM would increase and how to get it back down?

perhaps your throttle cable wasn't run right, and something is putting pressure on it. Check your throttle body to see if it's in a relaxed postition(against the throttle stop)
