Activating keyless remotes
I just purchased two keyless remotes on Ebay and was wondering how difficult it was to get them activated. Is it only a GM dealer that can do this and are they receptive to this idea or is this an everyday activity for them?
Thanks. |

Re: Activating keyless remotes
man its simple i got a 95 and i followed silverbullets instructions and voila.
they go something like this: 1. Jumper off pin 4 and pin 8 on your ODBII port. (plug is shaped like a trapezoid only the top is the longer part of the trapezoid pin 4 is four from the left and pin 8 is the last one on the row. Use a fused jumper if you arent sure.) 2. Close all doors 3. Turn ignition on 4. Hold down Lock and Unlock on your new remote(s) for 30 seconds or until doors cycle. 5. Voila you are done. If this is unclear search for silverbullets instructions. |

Re: Activating keyless remotes
I got a remote from a junkyard for $20 and took it to the Oldsmobile dealer. I had to have some other stuff done so they thru in the programming for the remote which supposedly cost $25. Maybe this is and option for you.

Re: Activating keyless remotes
Once you get your remote, then, down the road when you change your battery for the remote key, you will want to Resynchronize the transmitter by pressing and holding the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons for eight seconds in range of the vehicle. Once the transmitter is resynchronized, the horn will chirp and the exterior lamps will flash once.
