1999 Mountaineer Rear Door Latches Broke

I have a 1999 Mountaineer. Both rear door door latches broke at the same time. Is this a common thing?

I would say yes. Our 97 lost both handles in the last 6 months. The part is 18.00 each. Very easy to fix, 2 screws that you can see pop off the electric window pad, pop the door panel off and up. Remove the 2 screws holding the handle in place.
The spring was broken on both of mine.
