Re: engine cutting out at 95 mph

Get a hypertech and reprogram for a different speed rated tire, try to get a dealer to do it- not much chance

Re: engine cutting out at 95 mph

I belive the ECM has a speed limiter in it. The hypertec should be able to change that too.
But why do you need to go over 95???

Is that going to be your explination to the State Trooper? Just kidding I know exactly what you are talking about, but $250 donated to the State of NC in 4 months has taken it out of me.

Re: engine cutting out at 95 mph

lol, noticed my 97 does that too. Supertuners will give you more power, but may not kill the governor. a power chip will though. If you are willing to spend the $$ to play, its not a bad investment. However, just to kill it, best bet is with a chip. Check with your local trick shop.

Re: engine cutting out at 95 mph

olt of the newer vehicles have a governor built into the computer now so the car or truck will not go over a certain speed. alot is due to the tire ratings. so manufactures have wrote a program into the chip in the computer to limit the speed of the car and/or truck.

Depending on the year model of your truck it may or may not be chipable. If it is 1999 or newer i would go with the Hypertech Power Programmer. It will add about 20 horsepower 40 ft/lbs of torgue, and that NIssan is going to have to run 128 mph to outrun you

Exclamation Re: engine cutting out at 95 mph

I had the same problem with mine until i realized that HAY THIS TRUCK HAS 126,000 miles on it and runs like new you know how they do that. they limit that RPM not the speed my 350 is limited to 4,500 RPM ya ya ya a small block should be good for 6,000 RPM yep and only 100,000 miles at best I finally decided that 95 is ok on the highway just like the automatic shifting itself even when you have it in 1st gear ....IT SAVES THE TRUCK AND GiVES YOU THOSE 250,000 miles on them
