Question Wind noise

I have a 1999 Z71, I put on a bug guard on it and going down the road I have a flapping sound that is driving me crazy. Dose anybody know were this noise is coming from and how to fix it?

The flapping noise that you are referring to is probably the plastic moulding around the windshield. Several trucks of this body style had this problem from the factory (a defect??). Anyway it will cause no problem other than driving you crazy.

Check with a reputable glass shop or body shop in your area or with your Chevy dealer, they may be able to fix the situation for you.

Re: Wind noise

Just take some double sided tape and install it under the rubber moulding surrounding the windshield. On a warm day this moulding can easily be lifted back a little to put some tape under.
I did both sides and it made a big difference. A friend of mine did the piece across the top also, because his was kinda loose (easily pulled back), but mine was pretty tight so I left it alone.
I've also heard of some guys using silicone caulk under the rubber trim......... the double sided tape worked nicely for me.

Re: Wind noise

It could be the Bug Guard causing the problem. I had that problem with the first Bug Guard I put on my Blazer it wasn't supported correctly via the hood; so it would flex and act like a wing. Causing a really crappy vortex over my hood. It really sucked when you needed to use your window washers; as the water would go the other way.
Is it a factory Bug Guard? Make sure it's secure on the hood, it could be just causing the same effect...
