i dont want to buy used.....heck mine are used....just getting some bearing hum

can you just replace the bearings instead of the entire hub?

can i just pack them with grease and see what happens?

Yes, you can usually replace the bearing. However, you may need a press to remove and install the outer races. I was able to "persuade" mine out with a large drift pin and a big hammer. If you can't find a part number for the bearing, there is one on the side of the inner or outer race and the MFG. With that, you can cross reference it and get the correct ones.

Not too sure about that, I have a 2000 Xj and I have replaced the DS hub assembly, it looks awfully sealed to me. I am looking to replace the other side now 90K+, found Advance to have the hub assembly for $115. Only has a 1 year warrenty, made by Federal. Easy to replace, recommend an impact gun for the axle bolts though a long piece of pipe works too. Will need a torque wrench too.
