ready to purchase a 99 LTD 4runner
Hi!
I am new to this and hope someone can help me. I am close to purchasing a 4runner. I took it to a private mecanic and he suggested the dealer to fix some things before we purchase. Rear breaks need service Rear light break doesn't work AC blows hot air out wipers do not work. I told the dealer this and they are saying they will sell the truck ready for the road, but that doesn't mean they will fix everything the mecanic is suggesting. The 4runner is beautiful, it has 67K he is selling it no warranty just 60 days, for 16500. What do ya''ll think? I did tell the sales rep that I will not buy the car if these "minor issues" as he states it are not fixed. Am I being to demanding, or am I being fair and it is worth buying the SUV with these problems? Thanks! Ana |

Re: ready to purchase a 99 LTD 4runner
Brakes, brake lights, and windshield wipers are safety items and must be be repaired. Walk away.
There are alot of cream puff 3rd generation 4Runners available. Don't deal with someone who gives you trouble over such important stuff. |

You're welcome. I would give them one last chance if the price is right....

Re: ready to purchase a 99 LTD 4runner
I agree with Brian. Cream puffs aren't hard to find. If you were getting a really great deal on it, that might be one thing, but any decent dealer should know that most buyers would demand that they fix these issues- you should be no exception.
I am in the process of learning the hard way- I just bought a '99 for a great price, but I am not sure it is worth it when I have to take my car back to the dealer every 3 or 4 days to fix the problems that they don't know how to fix. Good luck, whatever you decide! |

Re: ready to purchase a 99 LTD 4runner
I bought a 99 4runner pre=owned certified from toyota for roughly 20500 and I couldn't be happier. Everything was addressed before I was handed the keys and for $600 I picked up the extended warranty that has paid for itself already by fixing the O2 sensor and the climate control module.
For me it was the right move and I recommend it for anyone interested in a used car or truck. |
