Engine stops While driving

I have a G 20 Conversion van from 1995, i have some problems sometimes the engine stops while i'm driving, other times it stops when i'm lifting the foot from the gas pedal, the engine is a 6,5 diesel, and the only one driving in Denmark, a mechanic told me that it could be the fuel pump, that should be replaced, but he was not sure, i live in Denmark, and the guys that know something about chevrolet cars, have been looking at my car, without luck, we don't have any specialists in Denmark, thats why i'm trying to see if somebody here maybe could help me ??
