S-15 starting problems

We have a 93 S-15 with the CPI 4.3. REcently, in the mornings, it will crank, gets fuel, but won't start. Turning the key all the way off, then back on a few times seems to do the trick. My first thought is ignition switch, but father in law, a 25 year GM parts guy, says that coils in those have a habit of flaking out in the cooler weather.

Anyone out there deal with this?

Thanks.

It was the pump

Thanks folks...a new AC/Delco fuel pump solved the problem.
And for the record, it's not too hard to change in a S-10/S-15. Backyard mechanics its about a 5 out fo 10 in difficulty.

Don't you have to lower the gas tank to do the fix? I've heard it's a pain. Maybe thats only in the newer vehicles though

I changed the fuel pump in mine and the major problems that I had was the bolts for the tank rails that hold the tank in where so tight I couldnt hardly get them loose.I have a really nice impact and it took alot of banging and lubing to get them out. Also the gas line fittings where gone. They where pretty rusty.Once you get past that its not a bad job.
