warning chime on 2003 CRV

The warning chime on my 2003 CRV has stopped working suddenly, doesn't go off for anything (lights left on, door open, etc.). Any ideas on a fix?

door chime

I will be taking my 2002 Honda CRV to the repair shop today for the 4th time today to have this same problem fixed. I have had a dead battery twice because I left the lights on when the warning chime didn't work.

the previous three times they replaced the door light switch. Now they say it might be an eletrical short. I asked if they have had this problem on other crv's and they said no, but it seems like others are having the same problem.

I will post after they look at my car today and tell you what they find out.

Re: warning chime on 2003 CRV

Usually the door switch goes bad on the drivers door. If the lite on the dash that tells you if the door is ajar doesn't go on when you open any of the doors i would look at that. The chime won't go on unless it senses the door is open.

My wife experienced the same trouble and killed the battery because she left the lights on, on our 2002 CR-V.
I check the door open indication as suggested by lorunner and indeed it wasn't working. Looked at the drivers door switch and sure enough the switch was stuck meaning that the CR-V would think the door was always closed. Check it out first before you take your CR-V in....don't waste your money and have a service center look at this, the fix was so quick and easy. You just need a phillips screwdriver to remove the rubber switch holder, and after fiddling with it for a couple seconds it worked just fine. If the switch needs to be changed, go buy one and do it yourself...its an easy job.

if its an 03 crv it should still be under warranty... but yeah that is a common problem on the crv's and on the civics... ive seen alot of bad door switches..

Re: warning chime on 2003 CRV

Thank you !!!! Lorunner and cmharriks
I've accidently left my lights on so many times. Excellent fix. I fixed the switch in a couple of minutes and I'm just a mom who knows nothing about cars.

Talking Re: warning chime on 2003 CRV

Thank you !!!! Lorunner and cmharriks
I assumed the warning signal had just gone out for the headlight and was trying to find out where it was located when I surfed over to this form and found the answer.
My switch was not broke, just pushed out of the rubber cover, I just bushed it back in and presto.
I thank that since the driver door is the main door used and also several times when you close the door the seatbelt sometimes gets closed in the door which might be the reasion this is a problem.
