Calipers

I was wondering how hot the brake calipers got. I am wanting to get some antirust spraypaint and wondering if it would work.

Re: Calipers

well, the pads are supposed to be capable of handling 800 degress celcius, but its not the same thing.

I'm guessing the caliper must be getting in the 100 degrees celcius, touch ur rims after riding, u'll see those are pretty hot too.

putting high temp engine paint would be a first line of protection if u cannot put anti-rust paint.

Re: Calipers

drums are more aesthetic and dont get as hot because the braking is spread over a larger area. less friction per unit area produces a lot less heat

Re: Calipers

buy caliper paint from pep boys its like 8 bucks. dries fast too. I did mine and it looks pimpin, just take off the wheel, make sure u use a lot of plastic to cover up ur car and mask up everything u dont want painted with masking tape. I put on about 4 coats per caliper so it took a bit but it dries real fast if its warm out and its hella worth it.
