RPMs

I have a 98 S10 4.3L V6. When the engine is completely warmed up and in neutral, what should it be idling at?

There should be an emissions decal located somewhere on the fan shroud, radiator core support or possibly on the underside of the hood near the latch. On that decal will be timing info, spark plug type and gap and idle speed.

Re: RPMs

Nope, too low.

Should be between 600-700

Check for a dirty air filter or a plugged fuel filter.

Re: RPMs

well its pretty simple to see what it does, you turn it one way and when the truck is in idle the rpms go down, turn it the other and the rpms go up

Re: RPMs

the position of the blade in the throttle body when the truck is at idle, it moves the part that the cable from the gas peddel connents to, thats the best way i can explain it to you
