Ls Vtec or GSR?

Im trading in my 1998 civic EX next year and am gonna get an integra but cant decide it i want to get LS and put vtec head on it or just get a GSR.

The reason i would want to go LS is because of insurance rates, im 22 and already have 1 wreck and 2 tickets so my insurance is already high enough, if i go with GSR ill probably have to pay over $300 a month.

What do you guys think i should go for, GSR or LS Vtec?

Re: Ls Vtec or GSR?

What are your plans: All motor, or turbo? If your going all motor, I would go with the GS-R. The ls/vtec will give you a little more horse power than the GS-R, but it's alot of trouble trying to find someone who knows how to build a good ls/vtec set up. If your going turbo, I would just go with the ls. The car will be cheaper, and insurence will be too. Good luck man.

This is true. It is hard to find some one with the knowledge to do it right, but it will be cheaper than buying a GS-R.

Re: Ls Vtec or GSR?

I thought the GS-R always looked better and produced more power. They have VTEC's also.

either way you look at it the LS is actually the better option in your case. and there is plenty of info on this site regaurding the LS/VTEC.

Re: Ls Vtec or GSR?

go with the ls/vtec. mid to high 14's as opposed to low 51's in a gsr. the compression is lower, something like 9.2 or 9.5 so it will be able to handle 6lbs easy. make sure that the boost doesnt spike because it wont handle much more than 6lbs. insurance will be cheaper, more power to start from. i would get a type-r tranny if you arent worried about gas mileage becuase it is geared so much higher and lsd. i would also spend any left over money on building the block eventually becuase boost is very addictive, you wont be happy with only 6lbs for forever.

sorry man, ur incorrect. a stock integra ls and gsr can can handle 8psi and this is on a t3/t4 turbo, the ls can even handle up to 12psi's on special occassions such as at the track due to its lower c/r.

Unhappy LS/Vtec Bomb?

Im unsure, but I hear aftering modding the LS to LS/Vtec I dunno if its true or not, but some of my friends say you can risk blowing your motor, but it also adds more torque then a GSR so... some 1 answer me?
