My 1999 5.9L Ram 4x4 Quad Cab Tranny went out...what other years used this?
My 1999 5.9L Ram 4x4 Quad Cab Tranny went out...what other years used this? Also the tranny was making metal, do I need to replace the torque converter also?

I believe from 96-99 or 00 they were 46RE's and yes I would replace the TC your trans pump pretty much pumped what metal you didn't find in your pan right into your TC.

If your planning on replacing trans and TC,there are a few vendors who specialize in beefed up 47E and Torque Converters.Some are exspensive,some resonable.If you Tow, or plan on adding HP or an exhaust brake it's a given you need a better built 47E.
