New Clutch Install ????

hello board im a first time user !
I have a 94 S-10 2.2 5spd ext cab 2 wheel drive with AC.
She's got 155,000,runs great.
Clutch is still the Original ONE !!!
I have changed a clutch on a Subaru before but i had the engine out and better tools and shat.
I leave for school in 3 days to drive from Long Island to Cali.
I bought a clutch,brought it to a local shop and the dude told me $400 just to install it, 4 hours of labor ?????? How long does it realy take and how hard of a job is it with out a lift and engine still in ????
Im poor and i aint got the cash for that bull shat !!
PLEASE ALL INFO U COULD PROVIDE WOULD BE OF GREAT HELP !!

400 is normal for a clutch install.

If you want it on time, pay the man and drive.

If the clutch isn't too bad, and your school has an automotive program then you can probably get them to change it for you.

ny to cali is a long drive. you dont want that truck to fail during that drive because it will cost you more in the long run. you might want to have the shop do it for 400.00
