Belt tensioner Question

Picked up an 89 caprice a few weeks ago for $800 for sure expecting some problems for that price. Haven't found anything horribly wrong so far... (whew!) I love the car
Few questions though.. The tensioner pully is noisy and thought bearing and bought a new pulley w/bearing,, went to take the old one off and UHOH that came off way to easy.. Dang the shaft is worn enought to let the inner race get obital if it wants and you can hear it.
Has anyone tried JB weild on on a problem like this? I'm thinking of a thin coat on the shaft, side the bearing on then pull off, recoat ard turn it around. could this work? Has anyone had succes with this?

One more question. The last capirce I owend was a 79 (in 88) and don't think it rode this ruff.. I checked out the shocks and dont think its tire bounce from crappy shocks. The back shocks are new as the seller said and I've looked. Yep they are. The front I can jump on and no bouncing. Picked up the front and check for anything loose ect. Shes solid except one tie rod end where I thought I saw slop but was hard to tell. I cant believe this would be the problem.
I'm having to turn the blame on the tires. It came with r15 P235's while the door sticker says it should have 205's. The 235 (on it) are Dayton Timberlines. Could that be it?
The dash shakes over bumps and the rear skips abit turning hard over any little bump.. The dern tires are acting superballs bouncin rather than rolling over and absorbing a bunp imho..

Any info would be great on both questions!!

Re: Belt tensioner Question

How wide are your rims? If they are 7 inch, the 235's may be a little too big.... if they are 8 inch, I would be looking at the tie rods again...

I had a similar problem with my '85. It also may be worth it to check the alignment, sway bar end links and your body mounts too.

Re: Belt tensioner Question

I'd strongly recommend getting the swing arm or you're gonna ruin the pulley/bearing set you just bought.

burnM has a good point about the wheel/tire combo. Wagons run a 225-75 (stock), and I've gone up to a 235-75. Police (sedan) package is 225-70 (I think). Regular sedan is 215-75 (I think).
